Foreign nationals interested in entering the United States to pursue permanent status can do so under certain employment based immigrant visas. U.S. immigration legislation in the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) stipulates that an alien may obtain permanent resident status only through the course of certain proceedings.  While each has its own special requirements, limitations and quota restrictions, understanding what documentation to provide, what deadlines are involved and how to prepare paperwork is essential in avoiding delays. Employer Compliance & Due Diligence

U.S. immigration laws make it illegal for businesses to employ foreign nationals who have not received USCIS permission to work in the U.S. In virtually all cases, employers are required to verify that all employees are authorized to work in the U.S. This requires companies to complete and maintain Form I-9, which records review of the worker's identity and work permission documentation. Employers who knowingly hire and continue to employ unauthorized workers, or who fail to complete and keep required documentation, are subject to serious penalties. Stern & Curray LLC can help organizations stay compliant with ever-changing state and federal laws. Learn more »
